How does Tooth Oil actually clean your teeth compared to say traditional or natural toothpaste?
Here is what we discovered in discussing our finds with Dental Hygienists. Bacteria in our mouths feed on food particles left behind from lack of brushing or poor brushing techniques. The bacteria ingest these particles and excrete a sticky coating called plaque. This plaque adheres to the enamel of your teeth which then attracts and holds more particles creating a cycle in which bacteria thrives. Over time, this plaque contributes to teeth staining and if left unchecked develops into a hard to a remove substance called tartar.
The essential oils we've blended to make Riverstone Naturals Tooth Oil are naturally antiseptic and anti-bacterial thus naturally destroying bacteria while providing gentle clean. Because of the antiseptic qualities of the essential oils, using our Tooth Oil is helpful for mouth sores, and inflamed or receding gums.
Does it really help reduce cold sores and canker sores?
It has been our experience, and many clients have agreed, that after 6-8 months of using Riverstone Naturals Tooth Oil canker sores and cold sores are greatly reduced when brushing twice a day.
Can I use Tooth Oil to treat a cold sore or canker sore?
Yes, we have had amazing success in almost eliminating cold sores and canker sores in our family by brushing with Tooth Oil twice a day and using Tooth Oil to treat mouth sores. Apply 1 drop of Tooth Oil on the mouth sore and surrounding area. I usually pop my Tooth Oil in my pocket if I have a cold sore and use it whenever I feel that "tingle'! I do this until the sore is healed over and no longer active.
Does it help repair receding gum line?
Because Riverstone Studio's Tooth Oil is non-abrasive, it is a benefit to people suffering from receding gums by greatly reducing heavy and abrasive brushing. We have found that our gums are healthier and stronger since we started using Tooth Oil 5 years ago.
Will Tooth Oil whiten my teeth?
Riverstone Studios Tooth Oil will not whiten your teeth. We enjoy a cup (or three) of coffee a day and found that we needed a natural tooth whitening agent. We don't like the taste of baking soda and don't like the toxic nature of bleach or peroxide so after much research, we found a solution - Riverstone Naturals Tooth Polish!
Can I use Tooth Oil for my teething baby or child?
Our boys are now in their teens so we have not researched if Tooth Oil is safe for babies or young children. We used to place ground cloves on our babies sore gums as their teeth emerged. Now that they are older and brush with Tooth Oil daily, we use it on their gums to relieve tooth pain as their adult teeth are coming in. Please do some research and find out for yourself but we cannot recommend it as we have not researched it properly.
Can I ingest Riverstone Naturals Essential Oils?
In Canada, Essential Oils are recommended for external use only. Any small amount left in your mouth after rinsing is not a concern to Health Canada, but deliberate ingestion of any essential oil should not be considered a safe practice because essential oils are so highly concentrated in form.
How long will a bottle last?
What is the PH of Tooth Oil?
PH refers to the concentration of hydrogen atoms in an aqueous (water) solution. Acid levels in an oil or oil blend can not be measured in terms of PH. Most oils (including essential oils) are weak to neutral acid whereby the measurement is defined as % of fatty acid. The measurement of fatty acid in our Tooth Oil is less than 1%.
